Planting Season
Daylilies are an extremely hardy plant, with proper care they can be planted throughout the growing season(March-October in zone 7) However, the best time to plant is the spring or fall.
Ensuring the best growth possible for your new daylilies can be done by proper watering and fertilization. Watering being the key component to a good start.
When your new daylilies arrive remove them from their packaging or open the box to allow good air flow until you are ready to plant. Keep daylilies in a cool place out of direct sun until planting time.
Planting Time
1. Soak dayliles in a bucket of water for 2-3hours, allowing the roots to absorbe the water. Once the dayliles are well hydrated its planting time.
2.If you are to eager to plant, skip soaking your daylilies and move to your desired planting area.
Planting:
Plant the crown of the daylily plant about 1 inch below the ground . Spacing plants about 18 to 24 inches part depending on desired overall look.
Watering
To ensure a good start for your daylilies you must water deep/thoroughly until the plants have established. This should take about 2 weeks. Once establised, dayliles do not require as much attention. Only that brought on by their eye catching appearance.
Enjoy planting throughout the growing season. The key is to adjust your watering as needed based on the time of year.
